Improving Accessibility at En Masse Festival, Bristol

Client: En Masse Festival
Role: Accessibility & Inclusion Consultant

En Masse is an independent, Bristol-based, electronic music festival with a strong focus on innovation, community engagement and immersive experiences.

I worked with the festival’s Communications and Community Lead to strengthen the accessibility and inclusivity of the festival’s community programme and audience experience.

The format included in-person meetings, remote research and preparation work (e.g reviewing communication materials) and online training delivered at times convenient for the varied working schedules of the festival team.

Consultancy work included

  • advising on how to make the festival’s community engagement work more inclusive and accessible

  • reviewing booking forms and feedback processes to identify barriers for community members

  • supporting improvements to festival communications and accessibility information

  • delivering staff training on the social model of disability and inclusive language

  • training volunteers and front-of-house staff in basic inclusion awareness

  • identifying community partners and networks for signposting

Client Feedback

“Jenni’s consultancy has completely transformed our company-wide approach, from planning to delivery. Jenni’s unique experience as a musician, a Bristol resident and an Inclusion Lead means her approach is well-informed from every angle and we never needed to explain our specialist topics. Jenni really listened to and understood our objectives, and acted with flexibility to accommodate them. She also created a safe and empowering environment for us to be genuinely curious and learn together.”
